IT'S A.....

Well we had our 18 week ultrasound today.  The baby is measuring on target and everything looked pretty good.  The baby is 7oz and so far is just like Avery and didn't want us to get a good look.  It had its hands/arms across its face for most of the ultrasound...little stinker!  We did get one good pic of its tiny little face and profile!

And just in case you are wondering we didn't find out gender...we are keeping it a surprise.  So for all of you out there we still don't know :-)  We have several people making guesses.  Lets start the poll!  Avery and I think girl!  Matt is goin for the boy!   What do you think?

Going too fast!?

I can't believe that I will be 17 weeks pregnant this week....Time is going by fast and believe it or not I wish it would slow down a little. I pulled up a pregnancy ticker the other day that said you only have 24 weeks to go and I got a little pit in my stomach like "wait...thats it" I am sure in 24 weeks I will be ready to meet this little one but right now I can't imagine this little babe being anywhere but inside my little belly!

Many of you may or may not know but a couple of hours after I delivered Avery... Matt was in the NICU, my family had all left, and the nurses got me out of my bed to put the egg crate back on it. I was in a swirly MAG world and was so sick! I remember feeling as if I were on a ship because I was so motion sick. The nurses left and I sat in my room alone and I lost it...I cried hysterically wishing my baby was back in my belly or at least in my arms. I felt a tremendous amount of guilt for not being able to carry Avery full term or to help her grow big and strong. Several people who visited said "You ar so lucky that you don't have to be pregnant those last few miserable weeks." I wanted to scream "WHAT...I would pay a million dollars to be pregnant those last 7 weeks and hold my baby in my arms and bring her home with us"

So this time I am already looking forward to every single second that I have the privilege of carrying this baby! You truly don't know the gift of being pregnant until you struggle with getting pregnant or deliver preterm. So ladies even if I am huge at the end of August I will be ok wih it! I will not complain because I don't want to ever feel those empty arms or tummy again.

I can't believe we only have 23/24 weeks left but vow to keep these memories fresh in my head! To enjoy everyday of being pregnant...the good and the bad!

As I write this Avery just climbed up on my chair hugged my neck and said "I love you so much mom...." Sigh the joy of these little beings is just priceless!!!!

"Mommy your tummy sick"

So the adventure of being pregnant the second time around is that at the 6 week mark on the dot I get sicker then a dog. I was sick with Avery and vomitted spontaneously but this time it is different. Sometimes I will be minding my own business feeling great and boom I turn my head and vomit. Other days it is all day and I do not really even want to open my eyes. There were several nights where I would take a cool wash cloth and a bucket and just go lay in my bed. Fun stuff!!!

Matt says this time is sooo much worse. I have not determined whether it is worse or about the same. He says he has never heard anybody throw up "like that." I am telling you it is from the depths of my soul! So it is different....especially with my little 2 year old audience.

When it first started I think it freaked Avery out! The first time she ever saw me vomit I was standing in the kitchen and we were getting ready to go to Amy's house for a play date. She was all ready with her purse in one hand and her sippy cup in the other! I, out of no where got sick and vomitted in the kitchen sink to which Avery replied "Stop it Mom. Stop it right now I want to go to Mimi's house" She knew that maybe this would cramp her plans and was livid that I was sick! Screaming at the top of her lungs! I just laughed and cleaned myself and we went on our way to Aunt Mimi's house!

So the beginning it was all about screaming at me to "Stop it RIGHT NOW" "Ok I am gonna count to 3 and if you don't stop it you will have a time out." hmmm I wonder where she learned that from!

Then one day Matt taught her that she needed to rub my back and say its ok mom. So she did pretty good "Its okay Mom you feel better now..OKAY stop puking." So it got a little nicer!

Another particular occasion I walked into the laundry room and boom out of nowhere I was vomitting in the sink. I was telling Avery to go get Daddy because I didn't want to vomit in the laundry room sink. She disappeared and to my relief I thought she was getting Matt....Nope then she appeared on her pink chair standing next to me looking in the sink saying "is that your puke Mom?" Yep it sure is thanks Ave!!!

Now the poor kid has it down pat! Today out of nowhere I felt sick and made a run for the bathroom she of course followed me in and this was our conversation:
Avery: Mom your tummy sick...
Me: yep (vomit)
Avery: Its okay mom you feel better soon (rubbing my back and gagging at me vomitting)
Me: Thanks Ave...why don't you give me some privacy?
Avery: Okay Mom you need privacy...I give you privacy (walking out the bathroom door...still gagging)
Me: continue to vomit from the depth of my soul
Avery: here ya go Mom you need some water I got you water (in she brings a yellow tea cup from her playroom with nothing in it)
Me: thank you ave that is so nice (laughing in between vomitting)
Avery: Okay Mom be all done now that is disgusting...come on mom get up

Which I then cleaned myself up and am now laying on her playroom floor and she is making me all kinds of elixirs to make my tummy feel better in her kitchen! Such a sweet girl!

By the way it is hard to laugh and vomit at the same time but I have started to master the skill!

I went a whole week and two days without vomitting so to me we are doing Great! Its better than all day everyday! Its just a gentle reminder that this baby is growing big and strong! I love my little two year old audience she definetly lightens the mood of feeling pretty yucky!!!!

Zoo Fun

Avery and I went to the zoo with Amy and Noah and Lisa and Skyler. It was pretty crowded for a Friday afternoon but the kids had tons of fun... Avery kept me on my toes and almost became part of the elephant exhibit, had her shoe stuck in a gate and almost fall in the water, almost dropped her sippy cup in another pond, and then as a grand finale threw a fit at the end because we didn't ride the carousel! Enjoy the pics curtious of Amy who thought all of my daughters adventures were hilarious and instead of helping me decided to take pictures!!! All in all great day!!!!!!!!

NT Ultrasound...stubborn baby!

So today we went to the Fetal and Womens Wellness Center in Scottsdale for our Nuchal Translucency ultrasound. For those of you that don't know what this is it is a genetic screening where they measure the thickness on the back of the baby's necks along with two proteins in my blood to see if there are chances for genetic problems.

Well this baby decided it would be fun to play games today and not cooperate with the ultrasound technician. Ideally they like the baby to be lying on its back looking up...which is the position the baby was in last Thursday. Well today at first the baby was face down on its tummy and then decided to wake up and do some flipping. It stood straight up in my uterus and was facing us. So she couldn't get any of the pictures she was looking for. We were there for well over an hour poking and proding the baby (and me) to try and get it to move but it wouldn't. Then it put its arms over its face like "leave me alone". The technician finally got a couple of ok pictures and went and asked the doctor if they would be ok and the doctor said well they will just have to do.

The picture above is a profile of the face! Above the forehead you can see a finger and thumb!

Matt was in awe again at seeing how much this baby has grown since our 8 week ultrasound and watching it move and flip around. I just kept giggling. I love that Dad's these days can be so involved because he definetly feels more a part of things when he sees the baby on ultrasounds. Our next ultrasound will be our 18 to 20 weeks. Today everything looked great...heartbeat 160 and the baby went from 1.5cm at 8wks5days to 7cm today which is 13wks3days!!

I swear I woke up this morning and felt like my tummy had a little bump. Then when the ultrasound tech kept "pushing" on my stomach it definetly felt like the baby was protruding out!!!

And I should knock on wood but...it has been a whole week tonight since I vomitted!!! HIP HIP HOORAY that is 4 weeks earlier than with Avery so hopefully things will continue.

Avery still asks on a daily basis if I want to go puke and just about everytime I get up to go to the bathroom (frequently) she follows me and says "Mom your tummy sick you want to go puking." :-) Or "go ahead Mom puke".

So much fun the second time around, especially with Avery and we are looking forward to all that will come!

Where have we been!?

Baby #2 is under construction and will be arriving August 28, 2009. I am 12 weeks 5 days along and the image above is badly scanned ultrasound photo from today. Head on the left and legs to the right laying transvers...heartbeat 156 and everything looking good! I am feeling better after a fun few weeks of pregnancy stuff but think we are on the upswing of things and soooo thankful for every moment that the porcelain thrown gets my service because it just means this baby is growing strong!

Avery is looking forward to becoming a big sister. She only talks about having a "little sister" so we will see. We will probably wait to find out the sex of this baby just like we did with Avery. We are hoping for a long and boring pregnancy. And yep I will be big and pregnant and probably swollen through the Arizona summer. No worries I will take it with stride just want a healthy full term pregnancy this time around.

I will update frequently on the new "little one."

I have many stories about Avery and I puking... :-) Stay tuned
